Steffen Diemer, freelance photographer
Born in 1966 in Grünstadt/Rhineland-Palatinate
Worked full-time as a professional photographer until 2013. My photos appeared in internationally renowned magazines such as: Der Spiegel, FAZ, National Geographic, The Guardian.
I mainly photographed social documentary reportages in war zones and crisis areas in more than 70 countries, but predominantly in the Near and Middle East, Western Asia, Japan and South Africa.
From 1994 to 1998 I also worked as a photographer, mainly in Japan.
In 2006 I started a long-term documentary about Kurdistan and since 2008 I have been working on "Living with Hartz IV in the Bayreuther Street" about Ludwigshafen.
I was a member of the renowned photo agency Bilderberg, Group 28, and I am still a partner artist of Canson Montgolfier, as well as a brand ambassador of Leica Camera AG Wetzlar.
In 2011 as a result of being on the road for a long time and because of other mentally exhausting activities, I entered a period of reflection. During this time I became enthusiastic about the wet collodion procedure. This fascination still lasts today and is the main medium that I work in and the one I am most passionate about.
Numerous solo and group exhibitions, represented in galleries and museums, participation in art fairs, works in private and public collections.
