With our Afghan Instant Camera at the photo festival in Kaiserslautern
With our Afghan Instant Camera at the photo festival in Kaiserslautern. A short info in between, before our exhibition in the Theo Kerg Museum, opening on Sunday September 18th, 2022 starts, we will be at the photo festival in Kaiserslautern with our box camera on Saturday September 17th, 2022.
You will find us there in Kulturzentrum Kammgarn from 12 p.m. Since we were invited by the organizers, you can have us take a portrait of you for a very low cost price of 10 euros.
We look forward to many visitors, whom we can bring closer to a long-forgotten and hardly practiced method of portraying. It's a unique experience. Process used in Afghanistan and Pakistan from the mid-1940s until around 2016, there are now only a handful of photographers working with it in Afghanistan.
We discovered this project for ourselves 3 years ago, because I was portrayed by an Afghan box camera photographer in Feyzabad about 10 years ago. In the tradition of Afghan street photographers, Pablo Masey built us a camera out of bulky waste wood. All parts are made of bulky waste, even the screen in the camera. We only bought the lens, which is now more than 100 years old, from our Spanish photo dealer Manuel Camera.
We are very proud of our camera, it's a favorite project of ours because we are completely detached and very close to the people.
