I recently had a visit from the Hördt Photography Club at my studio

I recently had a visit in my studio from the Hördt Photography Club and we were very touched to find some lovely photos taken by the members in my letterbox a few days ago.
It was a stimulating exchange. During the visit, we worked on a project together, as this was the best way for me to explain my approach, the intention behind it, and that the photographic process is simply a tool for me to express myself, and by no means the main component of my work.
Nevertheless, the craft naturally plays a role, which, for photography enthusiasts in the digital age, initially seems rather special. And, naturally, questions arise as to why I work with such a complex and error-prone process, why black glass as the image carrier. Why I had such a large camera built and how it came about, how I met Andy Donchev, who built all my cameras, who drew up the plans …

As I explained all this, I also touched on my motivation, my approach, and how I find my subjects. The philosophical framework, my spirituality and, last but not least, the literature that forms the basis of my work.

Naturally, I too had many questions that arose from our conversation.

We then rounded off the lovely evening together at the Landau wine bar ‘Zur Blum’. It was lovely that Kirsten and I had the chance to get to know you all.
